    Job Description
    Job Summary
    A Medical Assistant supports the providers and other staff members in providing comprehensive, quality healthcare services to the patients of the Clinic.

    Responsibilities and Duties
    • Room patients in a timely manner; obtain vitals, chief complaint, and verify medications in preparation for appointment with provider
    • Ensure needed supplies/equipment is readily available to the provider based on visit type and patient needs
    • Assist the providers during patient exams when requested
    • Administer patient vaccines/injections as ordered by the provider; documenting dose, lot number, and site given in patient chart
    • Obtain blood and/or urine samples from patients and process/prepare samples for lab tests as requested by the provider
    • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam and procedure rooms
    • Ensure hazardous waste, including sharps, are disposed of properly
    • Answer patient phone calls, route messages to appropriate staff, and give medical advice as directed by the provider
    • Assist with patient referrals and prior authorizations
    • Treat staff, physicians, visitors, and patients with dignity and respect
    • Comply with Policies and Procedures of the Clinic
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
    Qualifications and Skills
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
    • Completion of an accredited MA or LPN program
    • Practical knowledge of medical office procedures
    • Ability to work efficiently and productively, either independently or with other individuals
    • Demonstrate a positive attitude and respectful, professional customer service
    • Acknowledge patient’s rights on confidentiality issues and follow HIPAA guidelines and regulations
    • Ability to function in emergency situations
    • Proactively continue to educate self on providing quality care and improving professional skills
