The Andover City Council recognizes the importance of the economic benefit of tourism for overall development of the Andover community and surrounding area. Therefore, having levied a Transient Guest Tax Pursuant to state law, a Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was established in 2007. The transient guest tax funds are primarily used to support those activities and organizations which encourage lodging occupancy.
The Committee consists of: A City Council Member who also serve as Chair of the committee, the President of the Andover Chamber of Commerce, a representative of the hoteliers in Andover, and two at-large members who are involved in tourism and convention activities in Andover and / or Butler County. Currently those seats are held by Mayor Ben Lawrence (City Council), Tricia Wilson (Chamber President), Brooke Reist (Hotels-Holiday Inn), Dean Patel (Hotels-Days Inn), Daryl Thornton (At Large-Kansas Medical Center) and David Alfaro (at Large-Butler County Economic Development).
The CVB operates within six basic market segments and may use transient guest tax funds to promote these purposes:
A. Group Tours
B. Pleasure travelers
C. Meetings and convention
D. Trade shows
E. Corporate meetings and travel
F. Entertainment, sports and recreation
All approved membership application representatives and those representatives added by the member business or organization will automatically be added to our communication list. This communication list includes event and e-news email. The Andover Area Chamber of Commerce will not send emails that are spam.
